This past weekend, ATC hosted a tree pruning workshop called "Train Your Trees". The afternoon event, taught by local arborist Tom Ingersoll of Ingersoll Land Care and Melissa LeVangie from central Massachusetts, was well-attended. We learned about proper tools, safety gear, and pruning technique. Towards the end of the workshop, Melissa hoisted herself up into one of our Sugar Maples and demonstrated how to make decisions about structural pruning while Tom narrated from the ground. All told, an enjoyable, educational experience. This workshop was the first in our Forest Stewardship Series - look for more workshops and volunteer opportunities coming up at the KCC April through June.
